Publication of “Macau e os Territórios Lusófonos – Colecção Iconográfica Única de Postais Fotográficos”

A ceremony to mark the publication of “Macau e os Territórios Lusófonos – Colecção Iconográfica Única de Postais Fotográficos” (Collection of Photograph Postcards of Macao and Lusophone Territories) published by the Archives of Macao under the auspices of Cultural Affairs Bureau and edited by João Manuel Loureiro was held in the Archives at 18:30 on Friday, 22nd April 2016.

Presiding at the ceremony were Mr Ung Vai Meng, President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mr João Neves, representative of the Consul General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong and Director of the Portuguese Institute of Orient, Mr Jorge Rangel, President of the International Institute of Macau and Mr João Manuel Loureiro, editor of the publication.

“Macau e os Territórios Lusófonos – Colecção Iconográfica Única de Postais Fotográficos” is a Portuguese publication featuring photograph postcards of Macao and Lusophone territories from the image collection of the Archives of Macao.  Over 10,000 photograph postcards from 1898 to 1999 are presented in the publication to provide a glimpse of the geographical environment, economic and trade activities, social lives and livelihood, culture and traditions, religious features, urban architecture and cultural heritages of eight Portuguese speaking territories, namely Macao, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, São Tomé and Principe, East Timor and the former Portuguese India.
