The armoury was to build by the Public Works Department of Macao on the side of Guia Hill under the order of the governor in June 1919.

 

On 13 August 1931, an explosion occurred at the armoury and resulted in a casualty of 41 people, of which 7 were children. Buildings around the armoury, including the residence built by Sun Ke, son of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, for his mother Lu Muzhen were also damaged. The loss suffered by the property owners and residents involved amounted to 400,000 Hong Kong dollars.
