Refusal of Lu Lim Ioc's application for land concession on 14 September 1912

Reference code(s) : MO/AH/AC/SA/01/03761

On 14 September 1912, Macao trader Lu Lim Ioc (1878 - 1927) lodged an application with the Macao government for the concession by lease of a land of 352 square metres on Largo da Caldeira for 30 years. It was proposed that the land be used for a commercial building and be returned without condition upon the expiry of the concession term. The application was refused by the government based on the opinion of the Public Works Services, stating that the land was earmarked for a public square or recreational facility to improve the environment of the area. In 1927, the land was used to build Kee Kwan Motor Road Company office, Kee Kwan bus terminal and Macao Hotel, now replaced by a building named “Edíficio Kee Kwan” and Hou Kong Hotel.
