A reconstruction project in 1929 which involved the conversion of António Maria da Silva's two-storey house on a rectangle plan into a three-storey house with a L-shape plan. The rebuilt residence had bay windows on the front elevation. There was a strong presence of ornamental elements and a trace of Art Nouveau in the residence's interior and exterior design. The house owner, António Maria da Silva, was the Chief of the Technical Department of Chinese Affairs in Macao, the Vice Consul of Portugal in Shanghai and a member of the Portuguese Parliament. The garden house was located on No. 1 of Avenida Sidonis Pais (site of the present-day Edifício Tong Hei Kok ).
