1910 A DAY IN MACAO WITH A CAMERA

This small, unadorned book from the library of Luis Gonzaga Gomes recalls an earlier time in Macao’s history through the eyes of one photographer. Images taken a hundred years ago take us back to a quiet Macao, when the roads were almost empty and the skyline was clear: the waterfront on the Praia Grande; fish being brought ashore in the outer and inner harbours; the tree-lined Avenida Vasco de Gama and a Bela Vista Road, both deserted; the serenity of the Ruins of St. Paul’s, A-Ma Temple and Camões Gardens Macao as it was long before development and prosperity brought traffic and tourists to the city.
