As announced by the UNESCO on 30 October 2017, the collection of “Chapas Sínicas” (Official Records of Macao During the Qing Dynasty (1693-1886)), jointly nominated by the Archives of Macao under the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the National Archive of Torre do Tombo of Portugal, has been successfully inscribed on the internationally recognised Memory of the World Register.

To celebrate “China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day” and the “International Archives Day”, the Archives of Macao (AM) under the auspices of Cultural Affairs Bureau will organize the exhibition “Macao Illustrated - Exhibition of City Plans and Architectural Drawings from the Macao Archives’ Collection” from 10 June to 3 December 2017. The exhibition was inaugurated on Friday, 9 June, at 6pm, at the Archives of Macao. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Chan Peng Fai; the President of the Fellow Members Council of the Architects Association of Macau, Carlos Marreiros; and the architect of cultural heritage, Lui Chak Keong.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition “Shanghai Portuguese Refugees in Macao (1937-1964)”, organized by the Macao Archives under the auspices of Cultural Affairs Bureau, as well as the launching of the publication Refugiados de Xangai. Macau (1937-1964) by Portuguese historian Professor Alfredo Gomes Dias, was held successfully in the Alfredo Pimenta Municipal Archives of the Municipality of Guimarães, in Portugal, on 3 March 2017.

The publication “Thirty-three years in Radio - Interview with the broadcaster Leong Song Fong” included in the “Macao Oral History” book series, and the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Thirty-three years in Radio - the broadcaster Leong Song Fong”, organised by the Macao Archives (AM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was held on Saturday, 26 November, at 4:30pm, at the Jao Tsung-I Academy. The opening ceremony was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Ung Vai Meng; the broadcaster Leong Song Fong; the media professional Tang Io Weng; and the Editor-in-Chief of the Macao Oral History book series, Cheong Cheok Fu, among others. In conjunction with the publication, two lectures, entitled “The broadcasting career of Leong Song Fong” and “The voice of a generation”, were held on the following day, at 3pm, in the lobby of the Cultural Affairs Bureau building at Tap Siac Square. The lectures were well-received by the public.

The exhibition “The Mastery of Shipbuilding – Fishing Junk Models by Wan Chun”, organised by the Historical Archives of Macao under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was inaugurated on the premises on 29 December (Tuesday) at 6:00pm. Several fishing junk models crafted by experienced Macao shipbuilder Wan Chun were exhibited, illustrating the aesthetics of his craftsmanship and embodying the techniques and spirit of shipbuilding.

A full-scale replica of the precious map Gujin xingsheng zhi tu (Map of advantageous terrain past and present) from Jiajing’s reign (1555), featuring interesting references to the Portuguese presence in Macao, will be donated to the Macao Historical Archive, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, by the Research Center for Social Sciences and Humanities of the National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan, in a public ceremony to be held on 25 June 2014 at 10am at the Cultural Affairs Bureau auditorium.

To celebrate the China Cultural Heritage Day and the International Archives Day, the Macao Historical Archives under the auspices of Cultural Affairs Bureau present “The Times of Typhoons – Exhibition of Macao’s Archival Materials” in conjunction with related lectures. . The exhibition will be inaugurated at 6:30pm on 9th June 2014 at the Macao Historical Archives on Tap Seac Square and the exhibition is open to the public from 10 June to 7 December 2014. The exhibition was presided over by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Mr. Ung Vai Meng; the President of the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau, Mr. Fong Soi Kun; and the Director and Member of Executive Committee of TDM, Mr. John Lai.
